INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL

Please tell us about a lasting memory that you have of Trinity Mirai International School.
I was surprised when my child came home and was eager to tell all about learning about mammals and reptiles in science class that day.
At Trinity, in addition to English language lessons, social studies and science, math, and art and craft are all taught in English, so the children gain a very broad knowledge of various subjects while also learning English. I am thankful for this because it gave my child the knowledge needed to pass the Eiken test.
Is your child enjoying Trinity Mirai’s International Program?
There are many events such as spring and autumn field trips, sports day, Halloween, Tanabata, Christmas Concert, mochi pounding. These events are so much fun because the teachers put in great effort to make them special for the children. The children’s year-by-year development is especially noticeable on Sports Day and the Christmas Concert.
The students can also learn about and enjoy Japanese customs such as New Year calligraphy and bean scattering that are also incorporated into the curriculum.
Are you satisfied with Trinity Mirai’s staff and teachers?
I’m very satisfied.
The teachers are very diligent, they love kids, and they have a good sense of humor. My children love the teachers, too.
The diary exchange that the students can do with their homeroom teacher is a great way for the children to improve their writing ability and deepen communication with the teacher.
Also, I think the fact that there are veteran teachers at school is great. I’m happy that my child was at Trinity Mirai from entrance to graduation.

Why I chose Trinity Mirai.
On our first visit to school, Trinity Mirai’s Japanese teacher was lecturing the KINDER students for making the sinking messy with paint and not cleaning it up.
The teacher was telling them in English, “The little kids (pre-school) have to use this sink, too. You mustn’t leave it messy like this!” Those KINDER students responded to the teacher in English and then proceeded to clean up the sink area.
Now that type of situation is normal to me, but at that time it was my first visit to Trinity Mirai and I was very impressed that English was being used naturally in all situations, not only in English lessons. I really wanted my child to be able to converse naturally English, so I decided to send her to Trinity Mirai.

The school is lively with the rotation of subject teachers, and I believe my child is having fun at school.
Are you satisfied with Trinity Mirai’s staff and teachers?
Trinity Mirai’s teachers and staff were very empathetic and cooperative in helping with preparation of documents, and report cards for the submission of our application to an overseas elementary school. We are very thankful.
The Principal, Peter, was very helpful in researching overseas elementary schools and giving his opinions to aid us in making the right decision for our child.
Q. Please tell us about a lasting memory that you have of Trinity Mirai International School.
I have memories of pre-STEPS, STEPS, and KINDER, but I think my fondest memory is of the first open day after my child became a KINDER student. When my child was a STEPS student we weren’t able to spend mama and papa time with him in a normal way and he was a boy with a small voice who would just sit quietly.
My memory is of my son taking part actively in lessons with a big smile and big voice. I was moved just by seeing how much fun my child appeared to have, but was especially impressed when and realized how much my child had developed when I saw the English communication between by child and the teachers.
Is your child enjoying Trinity Mirai’s International Program?
I believe that my child is really enjoying school.Every day my child excitedly tells me about the fun lessons taught by each of the teachers, and also about helping the STEPS pre-school students. From the beginning he was especially excited about “Show and Tell”, and waiting in anticipation for his turn to come around he was thinking about what he would talk about and what he would say.
Also, I don’t know why but my child told me he wanted to join the Book Club option class, so I signed him up for Book Club and when I would say to him, “You have Book Club today”, he would reply with an excited, “Yay!”.
Are you satisfied with Trinity Mirai’s staff and teachers?
I’m always very thankful to the teachers. I believe the teachers are highly skilled and deeply devoted and that they care a great deal about the children. The teachers devise lessons that help children concentrate and have fun while learning in day-to-day lessons, but also make events special so that children are even more interested in preparing for events.
I trust the teachers because although they are strict when my child does something wrong, they always let me know the details of what happened.

TRINITY EIKAIWA PROGRAM

Please tell us about a memory or your experience at Trinity.
Parent of a Book Club student: On open class day I thought it was great how the teacher read Batman to the students and held a question and answer session in such a way as to improve the speaking ability of the children. In addition to reading the Book Club book, the teacher asked questions and had the students answer in teams and write the answers on the whiteboard before presenting them to the class.

Parent of an Eiken class student: In Eiken classes my child is learning grammar and phrases that are needed to pass the Eiken Test. Also, I think that amongst the children that are taking the class, they have a very positive way of pushing themselves and each other to try harder so that they join their friends that are in the higher levels, but they are not at all competitive. Although the goal is to pass the Eiken Test, when my child passes a test it results in improved confidence and a strong desire to try harder in the next level. I’m glad that my child takes Eiken classes.

Parent of a Saturday School student: Saturday School is on a ticket system so is very flexible and helpful at such times that my child has school or we are busy as a family. Saturday School is 4 hours long, and my child is learning a lot of different things. There are also fun events at times such as Halloween and Christmas and my child is happy to be attending to Saturday School.

Parent of an English Class student: Before coming to Trinity my child was going to a different Eikaiwa that concentrated entirely on learning from a textbook and I was concerned that my child’s English was not progressing.
I saw an advertisement for Trinity and came to observe a class and discuss my child’s education. The staff explained the Trinity Eikaiwa program to me and I felt that this school would be good for my child. Looking at the results, it was definitely the right decision. My child listens to the school CD and has come to enjoy studying English.

RECREATION

Parent of a Ballet student: My child has been in the ballet class for 3 years now. Teachers teach strictly but respectfully and my child is trying hard and even studying at home. At the performance the children wear beautiful costumes and I’m moved by how elegantly the children stand on stage. Also, I often hear how expensive the performance costs are for ballet, but the performance costs at Trinity are very affordable.

Parent of a Snare Drum student: My child started snare drum after seeing other children having fun in snare drum class and has now learned rhythm and some basics about reading music. I’m pleased that my child started taking snare drum lessons and is now keen to practice more and progress to Drum Set.

Parent of a Gym Class student: I’m not really able to say that my child is athletic, but the teacher persevered and my child became good at such things as ball work and jump rope. After becoming good at those things my child developed confidence and a ‘never give-up’ attitude toward other apparatus such as the vaulting box and horizontal bar.

Parent of a Rhythm Gymnastics student: Children first learn ribbon, and then progress to ball and rope. The children have a performance opportunity at the yearly Sports Day, and I’m very happy that I can see my child’s progress at the twice-yearly open class.

Parent of an Art Class student: At Summer School there was a limited time art class that my child participated in. My child said it was a lot of fun, so in October when Trinity opened an after school art class, I immediately enrolled my child. I think the children are very fortunate to be being taught by an extremely talented teacher. Also, as the teacher is a native English speaker, the children learn some English while studying art.
