INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL

Education goals of Trinity Mirai International School
Because our goal is for our students to speak both English and Japanese naturally, our comprehensive curriculum contains several classes in English as well as a daily Japanese lesson. From infancy our students learn about events, culture, and manners of Japan and of English speaking countries. At Trinity Mirai we aim to have an ‘at home’ atmosphere were our students learn to work together like a family.

About STEPS (1-3 years old)

イメージ

Is this the first time that a lot of parents are separated from their child for an extended period?
It is understandable that you will feel uneasy being separated from your child for the first time, but our STEPS teachers will communicate with you regularly and keep you informed about your child’s progress and development, so please try not to worry.

Pre-school children (1-3 years old)

・At this age a child’s brain absorbs new information much like a sponge absorbs water.
・Children at this age can do a lot more than adults think they can do.
・Children at this age generally have a short attention span, but they are capable of exerting a significant amount concentration on things that they are interested in.

About STEPS Learning (1-3 years old)

イメージ

Please imagine 1-3 year old children sitting on chairs for an extended period and concentrating on a lesson. In reality it is really difficult for a child to sit all day on a chair and concentrate.
Under normal circumstances it is difficult to have 10 children sit and concentrate for even 10 minutes, but at our school we have designed a curriculum that keeps young children so interested in what they are learning that even at this young age they sit for extended periods of time without any problems.
With STEPS age children in mind, we limit lessons to between 20 and 30 minutes and have a tea and toilet break time between each lesson.
These short break ties help children to ‘reset’ and concentrate during the next lesson.

About STEPS Program

イメージ

Other than Japanese language lesson time, the whole day is spent in an all-Englishenvironment. The children sing English songs, learn the alphabet, play games with flash cards, and a lot of other fun lessons. We also teach our students basic daily life skills such as how to putting on shoes, washing hands, eating with good manners, and playing nicely with friends.
In the morning Circle Time session, the STEPS students study together with the support of K1 (first grade Kinder) students. In this way the older students become role models for the younger students and the younger students copy the behavior and English of the older students and develop more quickly, much like having older brothers and sisters at home.
K1 students always try their best to be leaders during circle time and they have a positive influence on each other.

About KINDER (3-6 years old)

イメージ

Our KINDER curriculum is an English/Japanese bilingual curriculum. Teachers ask children questions that encourage them to think and find answers and solutions by themselves. Teachers select topic appropriate flashcards from our extensive library of flashcards and utilize them in right-brain training activities to help improve student’s knowledge about a wide variety of topics. Also, everyday teachers take the children out to play, and the children take part in English speaking activities or free-play using English to communicate with friends. In addition, many of our students participate in afternoon option classes such as gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, ballet, and drum.

Children’s spiritual and learning development

イメージ

We teach our students how to get on well with friends, share toys, books, and other items, help friends that are having ifficulties, express gratitude when they are helped by others, and to challenge all situations with a positive attitude.
Children who come through our program develop a positive and highly motivated spirit and can excel in their studies with ease.

Bilingual Education
For children at International School studying Japanese and culture is just as important as studying English.
[1] Children get a high quality education in both English and Japanese.
[2] We take many good points from Japanese kindergarten education such as annual and seasonal events so that our students get the same experiences as children attending a Japanese kindergarten, which prepares our students well for elementary school life whether public, private, or international.

Rotation System

イメージ

At Trinity Mirai we use a subject teacher rotation system.

Merits of the rotation system
[1] Because each subject is taught by a different teacher, the children have opportunity to interact with multiple teachers.
[2] Under the rotation system, a subject teacher teaches a specific subject to each grade level rather than 1 teacher teaching a variety of subjects. In this way the teacher can focus more on the subject and prepare much better lessons by paying more attention to the age of students in each grade level which results in lesson materials that are easier for the children to digest.
[3] Every teacher is involved with every student and our teachers and students all build close relationships.

Homeroom teacher

イメージ

The native homeroom teacher of each grade level leads morning and afternoon Circle Time sessions.
Homeroom teachers are responsible for communicating with parents about their concerns, and there are also Japanese teachers available for consultation or assistance in communicating with native homeroom teachers.
